A Race to Remember: 5K for Dementia-Impacted Camp Fire Survivors
Every year, B4EW hosts a 5k fundraiser to donate money to a cause related to fighting Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia. This year, funds will be raised to help support elderly Camp Fire survivors and their families who face the additional hardship of memory related illness. In November of last year, thousands of people were displaced by the most destructive fire California has ever seen. Among those that lost their homes were many elderly residents who were in memory care units or being taken care of by family when the fire struck. An overwhelming amount of support has arrived from all over the nation, but this smaller population is one that tends to be overlooked during a large scale crisis such as the Camp Fire. With your support, Bears for Elder Welfare will provide monetary relief to elderly residents and their families who not only have to cope with the aftermath of the fire but also with the devastating effects of Alzheimer's and other dementia related illnesses.
